crosstrain-bike
Great transport and amazing for the body!

"A bike for young and old” Suitable for elderly due to its stability and optional saddle. The movement when operating this bike is great for building muscle in the limbs and to keep the blood flow running. Adults with a fitness hobby can go out and enjoy the view while working out. This will be the end of tedious hours indoors at the boring gym!“Cross-trainers are one of the best body workouts” This bike does not suffer from the bad reputation of a three wheeler for elderly but it is still equally stable. A perfect in-between. “ stable but sporty looking”
Why the crosstrain-bike?
Right now elderly are hardly stimulated to go out. To a significant part of this community the usual amount of walking consists of only a trip to the canteen. Maybe on a good day they take a little walk through the park. Most of their days however are spent sitting down, which increases the odds of obesity, heart disease and porous bones. The goal is to make more movement in the everyday life of elderly possible (with little risk).

Many means of transportation, such as skateboards or rollerblades, are too dangerous or require too much effort for elderly. The remaining options are walking around or taking the bike. A normal bike might still be too much of a risk, since a high speed is required to offer stability. To eliminate the problem of falling over at low speed, there are tricycles. But these bikes do not have a great image and are often seen as annoying. Because of this bad reputation, many people who would benefit greatly from owning one of these bikes choose not to because they don’t want to be seen riding one of them.

The cross train bike is the perfect in-between, but the ones already existing
are not really elderly friendly. For instance, it doesn’t feature a saddle that can be moved to offer stability when needed and there is only one way of steering. By excluding the possibility touse the traditional handles of a cross-trainer, it loses a big part of the essential
body movement.

On the new concept bike have the choice of steering like you would on a normal bike. Or after stabilizing the steer by pushing the red button (1), you can steer with your weight while using the vertical handles to hold on to. The steer and the handles have brakes (2).
